The Art of
Tea Practice
Moving Poetry
The art of tea is a social practice and centered in a gesture of gentle hospitality. A mindful and meditative sort of ritual way to slow down, invite presence, as well as experience the softening and subtle energizing of the tea plant prepared and served in this specific way, ie multiple small steepings served in succession and expressing an arc of flavor and feeling.
These sessions are currently offered as a part of an intake for a full treatment session as a way of holding space for our work together. In these sessions, the ingredient of time mixed with the artful expression of tea allows us to more slowly allow the whole of you to become present in the room and guide how you want to show up- to the space, to the connections this work is creating, and to your life as a beautiful whole.
Tea selection may be gently caffeinated or non caffeinated and preferences can be easily marked on our custom intake form which will go into more thorough detail.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a free 15 minute consultation about this service.
A Form of Connection
The tea served will most typically be the camellia sinensis plant sourced directly from China but may also include herbal offerings or camellia sinensis sourced locally here in the northwest. Our connections include our Yunnan based adopted godfamily at Theasophie and our good friends at Bardo Tea.
My passion for tea is a lifelong curiosity and my exploration of the formal and informal education and practical approaches to understanding and working with this plant have taken me on travels to the global botanical origin place and indigenous home of the camellia sinensis “tea plant”. Working with this plant in this way, much like any well loved any daily ritual, is a way of awakening the senses and invoking presence.
